BULL-IT FURY II WOMEN’S MOTORCYCLE JEANS REVIEW

BULL-IT FURY II WOMEN’S MOTORCYCLE JEGGINGS REVIEW

We can all agree that finding women’s motorcycle gear that fits well and looks good can be a struggle. We find that motorcycle jeans fit more like they are men’s jeans that have been sized down. We need motorcycle jeans that allow for our curves AND keep our curves safe – am I right??

Here at Motowitch Collective we get a lot of brands asking us to try out their women’s motorcycle gear. We make a point of recommending only products we know and actually use.

With that said, we’re a very small team and we can’t do it all. So, we asked Aoife Elsid to share her thoughts on the women’s motorcycle jeans that she loves.

Aoife Elsid

A little bit about me. I am a motorcyclist from Dublin, Ireland. I’ve been riding for almost two years after riding pillion for about eight years. In essence, I use my bike daily to commute to work and for long leisurely weekend/evening spins.

While commuting is convenient, it’s touring that I love most, be it solo or with friends. I’ve toured parts of Ireland in our temperamental weather with my trusty tent. Needless to say, I’ve had many rain-soaked adventures but it’s never dull or boring. Ireland has a wild beautiful coastline, rugged mountain ranges and breathtaking landscapes

Touring in Europe via the ferry to France and Spain was amazing but there is still plenty more I want to explore. I have recently set my sights on touring south via Spain and down to Africa. I plan to make this happen next year.

Bull-it Fury II Review

I recently purchased my second pair of Bull-it Fury jeggings after owning my first pair for about 18 months. Obviously, it was an easy decision to purchase a second pair as they are super comfortable and look like regular high-rise, skinny jeans, if not even better! Despite the Bull-it Fury II jeggings being safety wear, they are actually quite flattering when worn.

Do they work?

Most importantly, they really do work.

I came off my bike last August (while on a date with my partner….embarrassing) and I collided with a wall. incredibly, there was no damage to my jeans at all, only paint from the wall and I had no pain, marks or discomfort afterwards as I had been wearing the knee armour.

With that said, there was minor damage to my ego and some light repair work to the bike. But, the Bull-it Fury II Jeggings did the job and saved my skin!

Where to buy Bull-it Fury II motorcycle jeggings

On this occasion, I ordered from Sportsbikeshop.co.uk after searching for best value that included the extra protection. They arrived within 48 hours from order confirmation (amazing service even during the pandemic!).

I bought the Dark Indigo Blue, but they are also available in black, in Short/Regular/Long lengths, in UK sizes 4-22.

Bull-it Fury II vs Bull-it Fury Evo

The denim is A rated, super lightweight and super stretch. They are a skinny fit 5 pocket, high waist, traditional denim design that are vailable in two styles; the FURY II and FURY Evo. The difference being that the FURY II have a button and zip closure, whereas the FURY Evo are a pull on denim with a stretch waist. Both styles make for a comfortable pair of high rise, denim jeans for ladies who seek safety and a fashionable choice.

Are Bull-it Fury II jeans weatherproof?

I would say they are ideal for fair-weather riding due to the lightweight construction. They have a super thin wick away mesh liner to ensure optimal breathability and comfort, so they keep you cool in hot conditions.

They are also finished with a shower repellent coating, I emphasise “shower repellent” and “fair weather”, although I occasionally wear them with my base layer and they keep me warm enough on a fresh, dry Winter day.

You can also be reproof the fabric if the water repellent effect diminishes over time. Waterproofing kits can be purchased on Bull-it.com.

The Technicalities

The Devil’s in the details

The side and rear seam construction is triple stitched and the thermal barrier prevents heat transfer from road friction. There are internal pockets for hip and knee protectors.

The armour available is CE level 2 and are easily inserted. Sadly, the knee armour is not accessible from the outside of the jeans while worn, which is an option I’d love to see in future versions.

The knee armour is included when you buy, with the option to add the hip protectors. I have both the hip and knee protectors which I wear every time.

As you can see from my short video below. the armour is incredibly soft and flexible. I often forget they are there as they mould to your shape so comfortably when worn.

The high risk zones are reinforced with COVEC’s “LITE” liner tested to 120KPH. Last but not least they are machine washable at 30 degrees, recommended to wash inside out and hang to dry as soon as the cycle is finishes.

About CE and A ratings in motorcycle safety gear

what does CE tested mean?

CE TESTED

This term normally implies that the manufacturer tested the whole or just a piece of a garment within their own facility that might meet certain standards. However, the garment is not necessarily tested in a certified testing facility to meet officially accredited standards.

What does CE certified mean

CE CERTIFIED

CE Certified is more secure, as it states that the garment samples were tested in certified testing facilities. In this case, you need to find out which part of a garment was tested

CE Approved explained

CE APPROVED

“Approved” means several parts of a garment were tested in certified facilities and are accredited to meet or surpass the required standards in all zones

what does CE tested mean?

CLASS AAA

This is the highest level of protection with which to take on the
highest level of risk. Garments classified as such offer maximum protection, but are also heavier and less comfortable to use.

What does CE certified mean

CLASS AA

Is the second highest level of protection with which to take on the wide range of risks that motorcycle riding presents.

CE Approved explained

CLASS B

The third highest level of protection. Protectiveness is less than the previous classes, but garments are lighter and more comfortable to wear on a daily basis.

CLASS C

In the least protective class, we find so-called “protection containers” that resist impact but not abrasion (underwear with integrated impact protectors for example)

Do I love Bull-it Fury II jeggings?

In conclusion

Yes, I do!

I highly recommend the Bull-it Fury jeans for style, comfort and protection.
